The image was created with dyed fibres, not paint. On top of that, the decorations were made with a golden powder.
The image emerged as a result of skilful placement of fibres in different places. The entire process is manual and the decorative effects are the artist’s choice.
This sheet of paper is unique.
Dimensions: 67 x 110 cm.
The entire delicate image emerges as a result of skilful adding of new fibres to the freshly hand-made sheet of paper. An artist does not use paint, but paper pulp, which is delicately spread and formed. This image has been entirely made by hand – from the „canvass” to the final decoration. In Japan, large sheets of this type were initially applied as decoration of the sliding doors (fusuma) and walls (shoji). However, they can as well serve as paintings.
The presented paper is unique, because it looks different depending on its illumination. Sometimes one can see more distinctly the surface structure, sometimes the pattern and yet at another time – the fibres themselves. The decorative characteristics of washi paper depend on the location of the source of light – whether it is situated behind the sheet of paper, at its side or whether the surface is illuminated evenly.
Dimensions: 67x 110 cm.
Grammage: 120 g/m². Please notice - the Japanese hand made paper is lighter then European. The thickness of the washi is greater as the western paper with the same grammage.
