Chiyogami – a decorative paper, frequently richly ornamented with gilded elements. Used in bookbinding and such industrial crafts as the production of jewellery, boxes, exclusive packaging or greeting cards.
Chiyogami – the name used sometimes interchangeably with yuzen. Chiyo - 1000 years, gami - paper. The name itself refers to the long tradition of this artisanship, in which decorative motifs were developed in accordance with the wood engraving techniques. The term yuzen denotes very rich patterns, initially created on fabrics assigned for making kimono.
Chiyogami paper belongs to the most ornamented materials used in the artistic handicraft. Intricate compositions, in various colours and comprising numerous motifs allow creating an almost infinite number of decorations.
